Anne Patterson Dee lives in northwest Austin, Texas with husband Jim, a retired classics professor. A 1968 graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in journalism in magazine editing & layout, Anne has a life-long interest in organizing & arranging random ideas or objects into a cohesive whole & editing the results. This passion serves her well, whether for writing a book or re-arranging the contents of a house into a friendly atmosphere conducive to buying.
Anne is author of Roots Illustrated: How to Bring Your Family Tree to Life (Juneberry Press, Austin, 1993), Four-Star American Community Cookbook (Running Press Book Publishers, Philadelphia, 1988), Quilter’s Sourcebook (Wallace-Homestead Book Company, Chicago, 1987), as well as other books & articles. After graduation from UT, she worked as staff writer for the Austin American-Statesman. Her seven years of volunteer work at Next to New, an outreach program of St. David’s Episcopal Church in north Austin, provided Anne with a strong retail background in pricing, selling, & displaying regular household goods, as well as antiques & collectibles. From 1992 through 2007, Anne bought & sold antiques, collectibles, & home décor. Her selling experience includes eBay (100% positive feedback), antique malls in Austin & Round Rock, & many week-end antique sales in Austin, Dallas, & Houston. She is a member & has served on the Board of Austin Friends of Folk Art (AFFA). |
